Mother's Wish
"The inspiration for this panel's name
came from the
two little dolls, which were given to the Neverending Necklace by my dear
friend Marita Baron from Germany.
After visiting my parents in Germany,
Marita and her daughter drove for 3 1/2 hours to Frankfurt
airport to meet me before my return flight to the US. Marita had known
about the Love & Peace Project, and she wanted to give these to me in
person, to make sure that the dolls got on the airplane and could later be added to the Neverending Necklace.
It was a memorable scene, when Marita
dedicated one doll to her beloved daughter, and the daughter dedicated the
other doll to her mother. I will never forget that encounter with Marita
and Kirsten."

The little dolls are dressed in the
regional costume of the "Schwalm", an area in central Germany that is
Marita's home.
That panel was on display during many
events and people were always drawn to these dolls like magic. Many felt
compelled to touch the dolls, not knowing the moving story behind their
dedications and how important it was for that Mother/Daughter
relationship.
