HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If the recent years have taught us something, it certainly must be the awareness that we have to create our own world around us in order to be happy and fulfilled.

I don't mean to be archaic or lecturing, but it is in our hands to lead a satisfied life. While economic influences are certainly not overcome just by wearing a smiling face as a daily regimen, everybody can change their life by changing their attitude.

Hardships happen to each and every person, many people are struggling and some have met a harsher fate than others. But nobody can afford to wait for another entity to make one's life meaningful. Only you can do that. You, the individual, has the obligation to take care of your attitude. No one else will.

Regardless of your situation, you still hold the reins to change your path of thinking. And the most rewarding way to do that: love yourself first. Forgive yourself for past mistakes, open your heart so your own soul can live inside of it. It'll give you incredible power

That is my wish for you for the coming year 2012!

Getting Serious?

Honestly, did you think that the necklace was going to stop just because it has gained some length now? Did you really believe that a sour economy would keep this project from doing what it is supposed to do? And did you ever have the feeling that my heart wasn't in it for the long haul?

Rest assured that all is well and the coming year will be stellar for the Neverending Necklace.

There are a few plans in pace that will make your participation even more fun. But I won't tell quite yet - it'll be a surprise!

In the meantime: have a very Happy Thanksgiving and a serene Holiday Season!

Yay! Over Half a Mile of Beads!

Not nearly as fast as I had envisioned, the Neverending Necklace is growing steadily and at an even pace. This will push my goal of reaching the First Mile a little further into the future, but it is well worth it.

Why? Because I'm spending more time designing the panels, and it is very time consuming to make them attractive and with perfect craftsmanship. After all - they need to last a while, and I'm making sure that the beads are fastened to the panel securely.

And I'm laying more emphasis on creativity. That way, when you're looking at all the different sections, they never get boring. You might even get inspired by some of them. Others might bring out a giggle from you or let you reflect.

Either way, I want you to enjoy them! Once I have found a permanent place for them, you will want to come visit your dedicated beads.

In the meantime: dedicate more beads - or sponsor a panel.

Remembering September 11, 2001

Over the past several weeks, the media have been overflowing with items, clips, essays, images and editorials about the tragic events that occurred 10 years ago in New York City, Washington, DC and Shanksburg, PA.

Not a person with a righteous mind and caring heart stays unfazed upon such brutal acts of terror. The consensus among the majority of the world's population is clear: nobody will ever forget the terrifying images and condemns such atrocity.

Tomorrow is a somber day that belongs to the memory of the victims and their families and friends.

But there is another group of unrelated people who have never fully digested the trauma and the heartbreak. Those who didn't have loved ones lost on that day or didn't escape by a narrow margin, but nevertheless feel the pain.

There are people around the world who had never before been as sad as on that very day. The senseless attacks have ripped out a piece of humanity, have caused the world to tremble in fear and made the future even more unpredictable. It was an act that took mankind several rungs down from the ladder of innocence.

We are all connected, and nearly everybody will be honoring the victim's lives on this grim Anniversary tomorrow.

We mourn in silence and we may seek a stronger connection to our Maker, our spiritual guidance.

It is in our hands to come to terms with violence and do everything in our power to create a better world, with kinder, gentler people and deeper understanding of each other's pain.

Maybe, some day, when individual hurting is gone, human suffering will be eradicated and remain a weakness of the past.

Let's ensure that people are getting educated, that we will face other cultures with compassion and understand their perspective. A difficult task, but we need to try.

May the victims of the terror attacks rest in peace.

Approaching the Half Mile Mark Fast!

It's been a few months since I announced the intention to complete one mile by the end of this year. Let me tell you folks, it's a lot harder than you think.

Not that I couldn't be sitting there, day after day, and string beads to make the necklace grow. And not that I don't have a ton of beads, either.

But what eats up the most time is creating the panels. It's painstaking work, measuring and designing. But the panels is what you like to see, so I have decided to put a big chunk of energy towards making them extra-nice.

And I hope it'll be worth it, because by the time the first mile is complete, there will be a lot of beautiful sections to look at - and for you to sponsor.

Compassion for Japan

Just as I thought that the devastating Quake in the Christchurch area of New Zealand was a big tragedy, the chain of events that led to the devastation in Japan has rendered me speechless.

I am designing a special panel to give encouragement to the Japanese people who have been affected by the recent devastation.

Please help me send them a message of hope by dedicating beads to these people half a world away.

Let them know that they are not alone, that we share their loss and that there is hope for a new beginning ...more >>

Reach Out to the World!

There is not a person in the world who is unfazed by news of political unrest and natural disasters.

Sure, many of you would like to help with money and other support. There are plenty of good charity organizations who do a tremendous job in helping, and we suggest you research the charities and donate when you can.

But money is not everything. Encouragement is as important to the affected to let them know that other people are aware of their plight.

The global population becomes more aware because of the internet. Make a connection to the world and complete the circle of unity.

Show your support by dedicating beads to a group of people that are strangers to you. Reach out and give hope. It's easy and FREE.

Off to an Enormous Start

During the past weekend, as the beads were available for dedication at the Down The Street Bead Show in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, something remarkable happened.

Actually, it didn't occur announced by an anticipating drum roll - it quietly snuck in, so to speak.

During that show, we added bead number 10,000 to the Love & Peace Journal, and it is a special milestone indeed.

Let's look at it as a good luck charm for this year's activity with the Neverending Necklace!
