Monday, 10/27/08 Get ready for the Treasure Hunt November 15 is coming up quickly! And if you're planning to come to the World Premiere Exhibit at the Art of Life gallery next month, make sure you bring your sleuthing gear! There will be a Treasure Hunt where you can find special beads on the Neverending Necklace, and with some luck you'll win one of the fabulous prizes. We won't give away the secret quite yet, but you can be sure there are treasures aplenty. We'll see you there!
Friday, 10/31/08 Sssshhh...don't tell anyone... We quietly passed the 1000 feet mark yesterday! As we are preparing one of the panels for the coming Exhibit we reached this important milestone. As soon as the panel is finished, we'll get the accurate count on the length and update you here. Remember to come to the Art of Life Gallery on Nov. 15 & 16 to see it!
Sunday, 11/2/08 Celebrate with us! We do have plenty of reasons to be happy. Not only will we be done watching election commercials in a few days, we all have much to look forward to! "How's that?" you might say, with an economy on a slippery down slope and retirement funds being depleted every second. Well, says the Wise Man, maybe it's time to ditch overpriced designer anythings and remember what really matters. Our family, our friends, life itself. Seriously, we all have to "unsplurge" a little and turn the focus to people we have neglected for some time. Things are just things, but people should be in the center of all societies. Dedicate beads now to make an easy effort remembering special friends and family. You know the dedications will always remain in the Journal, even years from now. To make dedicating even easier, we have improved the site for you. Now your dedications are a smooth sailing, whether you'd like to donate $1 or $100 - try it out! As for the necklace, it is growing better and more beautiful each day. It has passed the coveted 1000 feet mark, and soon it has its very own first exhibit. We all are pulling on the same string, and after this global slow time, things are bound to happen. Be positive and be seen on the string that goes around the World! Send a message to naysayers that all will be well and life goes on even better than ever because we care.
Saturday, 11/8/08 Worlds of Wonder and Awe await you at the Art of Life Really. You always could rely on David at the Art of Life Gallery for the finest art and fantastic frames to enhance your home's or business's interior. Over the many years that our family has known this store, it has always been A1 in service and product. Of course you knew that Dave himself is a great guy, and he consistently delivers the best, without any sliver of doubt. May I recommend you look there for Holiday giving? Tip: have a favorite picture reframed and instantly change the look and feel of an entire room. It really works. Or find an awesome print at his store: magical, inspiring, invigorating art - whatever it is that your heart desires. Do something nice for yourself by surrounding yourself with a work of a great master! Or get something whimsical like Dr. Seuss - especially works after your kids are gone. Paint yourself? Have it custom framed and see how the professional frame will bring out the beauty and value of your work. A new line of service makes the art of Life even better: you can get all your printing and signage needs taken care of - convenient and from people who know imagery and design. Go for it, you'll never look back. Get reacquainted with that wonderful store or enter it for the first time when you come to see the Neverending Necklace there. We have many surprises for you and you'll be the master of gift giving with the selections you'll find at the Art of Life! Saturday, November 15 from 10:00am to 8:00pm Sunday, November 16 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm Art of Life Gallery at the Pointe at Wellington Green
Sunday, 11/9/08 Powerhouses of Music: Live Benefit at Silver Screen a Sure Hit! I could never understand why I would want to sit at home and listen to music with my earphones on, when in fact there is some of the best performance going on next door. This is the time to rethink long gas guzzling trips to an overcrowded, overpriced and often underperformed arena. This is the right current environment to go out to your local venues, where commutes are shorter, prices are less and talent has a lot more to offer. Last night's performers left nothing to be desired for, and all musicians were performing to support charity work, with their music as passionate and fiery as if they played in a 30.000 seat stadium. Rick Seguso and Moe Jackson entertained with their solo performances and set up the crowd for a special treat to come. Easing into music with these two talents was facilitated by the flawless renditions and perfect choices of song repertoire. Then came Steelin' Time and lifted the audience to a whole new level. Incredibly fast paced, melodious and playing from their hearts, this band took over everybody's attention in less than a second. These guys are pros, and it can't get any better than that. Fun for sure and it left everybody wanting more - I'm a fan for life now. What a great concept and realization it was, and it was the brainchild of Peter Wein from Peter's Living Room at WRPBradio.com. Expect more to come and feast on music, food and atmosphere, all a stone's throw away. Who would have thought... but then we all should know that the vast experience of a show organizer like Peter Wein and longevity of a venue such as Silver Screen Cinema & Comedy Club make for a winning combination. See you there next time, watch out for special announcements! read more >> - Ingrid Webster
Thursday, 11/13/08 The Countdown is on Let me share with you a little insider information. When you come to see the Neverending Necklace at the Art Of Life Gallery this weekend, you will be standing in awe of all the beautiful beads and the enormous length of the necklace itself. Keep in mind that this exhibit is just the humble beginning of many more feet in lengths to come and visualize this String of Love and Peace and Hope going around the world! What is however truly amazing is the fact that countless people have worked on it to bring this project to its current existence: people like you, who have dedicated so many beads over the years, and the volunteers who donated so much of their spare time to help the necklace get to where you'll find it today. And of course, much credit goes to event organizers who have given a table to the cause at their shows over the years, as well as the sponsors who ultimately made it possible to bring that project to you. The Neverending Necklace is absolutely the finest community project, and you can see the first results this Saturday and Sunday. A community of many people coming together to create this symbol of love for one another, this longing for peace globally and within our own society. And of course, the power of hope that lies within such an orchestrated effort, - the hope encircling our hearts and making us stronger, unifying us all to guide us confidently into the future. Much is to be said about everybody involved: that they have pitched in to make it happen. Local businesses who are sponsoring this project now have secured a permanent spot on this Neverending Necklace, and they set an example of "can do" attitude for all to see. Bravo!
