What makes the Neverending Necklace so intriguing?

That, you might say, depends on who you ask.

Not so for me. By now, the life's bone mill has had a good grip on me and reorganized my values and ideas hopefully for the better. And in particular what the Neverending Necklace is concerned.

Since its inception in 1998, everything focused around creating a sensation, raising money for charities, doing a fun thing that does good in return. That sounds nice and idealistic, - and vague. And it has been a long, stone scattered road without a map or a compass or a vehicle. (Not even an ass to ride on, because I lost mine some years back.)

But throughout its journey, something miraculous shaped up and became bigger as the longer and more difficult the trek became: from day one, the Neverending Necklace lived and breathed from the contributions of all people who participated in any form, mainly those who dedicated beads. Each day this necklace gets more beautiful because you dedicate beads to people you love.

It is your involvement that creates the entire project; without you as an active participant it would become nearly meaningless.

You give the necklace its face, its meaning, its love, its energy. You put a name to your beads, you shape its destiny. You are a part of the string of love and peace that ties us together.

Thank you for that!                                                      - Ingrid Webster

Going Green: Caring about the Environment

Yes, environmental concerns are on top of our list. We do not believe in mailing out irrelevant brochures, direct mail solicitations or other tossables.

We do believe in and practice recycling every way we can. Maximizing resources and minimizing waste has been a standard for the Neverending Necklace since its very beginning.

And you have been very supportive of it: many donated beads and picture frames had a previous "life", and now they became an integral part of the world's longest and most valuable necklace. We like it that way.

Ten Years of Dedicating Beads?

Has it really been that long? Indeed, the Neverending Necklace is in its tenth year, and throughout the coming months you will see a lot of activity surrounding that milestone. There are a lot of surprises and we can't wait to share them with you.

You have made this project possible, and whether you dedicated beads, donated beads or vendor space, whether you volunteered or showed your support in any other way: it would not have been successful without your help! In July we will have a special event , so watch out for your invitation in the mail.

What great ten years they were. But we can do better. New goals for the Necklace have been set, and now we are offering sponsorships for entire sections to reach these goals.

In order to truly make a difference and make the Neverending Necklace into an international attraction, these sponsorships have a special task at hand: they are designed to showcase your business, organization or family and give you the privilege of having your "own" section. Many benefits come with that, and it lets you feel good about supporting such a wonderful project.

The string of love & peace that goes around the world is also a rope that ties us together in a positive sense. It can be the lifeline to otherwise forgotten people or moments. Sponsor a panel today to highlight dear people and events!

Chicago now has its own Love & Peace Embassy

A wholehearted Welcome to the new Love & Peace Ambassador Penny Sullivan! Penny has decided to use the Neverending Necklace in her fundraising efforts in Illinois.

What was once an idea on the table quickly turned into reality; Penny and Ingrid sat together and planned the logistics on how to utilize best their combined experience in helping an already well established charitable organization.

As we all know it is not always easy getting financial support for a worthy cause. Penny had been involved in helping raise money for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance's Burn Camp for a long time. To make fundraising and the giving process more fun, she will make use of the Neverending Necklace. People who donate money for her cause now get something in return: they can use each dollar to create a memory of friends and family by dedicating a bead to someone they care about. And with each dollar, they can get a free link to their site if they wish.

Imagine all that fundraising suddenly has become more creative and serves a multiple purpose! Plus you can follow the process and actually see the Neverending Necklace grow with each act of giving. Each bead dedication equals a dollar for charity, so visually the necklace becomes a gauge of love and peace and proudly shows off your generosity. Please continue to support Penny's work in Illinois and beyond, and enjoy doing it with renewed vigor!

Did the necklace grow overnight?

Some of you will have noticed the sudden change in length. There is no magic involved, just a simple addition: whenever a pre made section is finished, the length of it is added to the necklace. However, the amount of beads stays unchanged. The bead numbers will be added once they have been dedicated.

Sounds complicated? It is not. Go to the Gallery to see all the pre made panels currently available. You can dedicate an entire panel! Your family could have their "own" section on the Neverending Necklace, just like a precious heirloom.

Or you may want to get a panel and split it with colleagues or friends and choose the charity to which the bead money goes. If you would like to raise money for a particular organization, this is a great way to do it. Just contact us to have your favorite charity approved, it's easy!
