Sharing some fun

As I'm writing the news items, I'm always thinking of some information that might be worthwhile reading to you. This time, however, this article is just a funny story.

Remember the "Glόhwόrmchen" panel that got finished at the end of last year?

Well, for one reason or the other, this panel was "parked" in our bedroom, right next to my side of the bed. I pretty much came to ignore it and thought nothing of it staying there.

One recent sleepless night, my eyes were wandering in the dark room, when all of a sudden, I saw hundreds of tiny glowing lights near the foot end of my bed. Not quite awake and alert, I just couldn't believe what was unfolding there in front of me.

"Hmm", I thought, "let's get to the bottom of this." I slipped out of bed and turned on the light to find the source for the little glow lights.

When I did, I burst out in loud laughter and couldn't hold myself but laughing and giggling so hard that it woke up my husband.

Now he had never experienced his wife laugh out loud in the middle of the night, and he was slightly concerned. "What's the matter, babe - what's going on?" he murmured.

"The beads on the panel", I said, "they're glowing in the dark, which is exactly what they're supposed to do, but I forgot all about it and they almost startled me."

Needless to say, it became a short night for me, and if you're a facebook friend, you probably got a post on your wall at some unreasonable hour.

But these beads are amazing and they really ARE glow-in-the-dark!

Considering becoming a sponsor? - Your sponsorship donation will go directly to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund

As long as there is life on earth, there will be tragedy. But as long as there are people, there will also be hope.

My sincere condolences to the Haitian Nation and those affected by this natural disaster. To help with the relief effort, I am offering everybody a sponsored section who donates $100.00 or more to yele.org or any other licensed charity providing Haiti Disaster Relief.

It's real easy: make out your check of $100.00 or more to the appropriate charity organization and put "Love & Peace Project/Haiti" in the subject line. Mail it to:

Love & Peace Project, 13375 Bedford Mews Ct., Wellington, FL 33414.

We'll forward your check and ensure your place on the Neverending Necklace. The Love & Peace Project does not receive any compensation or commission from your donation. Your donation is tax deductible, as long as you choose a 501(c)(3) organization.

You will receive a lifetime sponsorship for a section of the Neverending Necklace, which includes your ad message on your sponsored section's page, a sponsorship certificate for your place of business and your business logo on select printed brochures/flyers.

You benefit by getting exposure and I will do all the work for you.

Please keep me busy.

Happy New Year!

So we finally did it. Got rid of this past decade of greed, destruction, animosity and despair. Signs of a better economy are heralded in the media and everybody has their resolutions in place. Big plans, good intentions.

But let's back up a little. How often did you actually follow through with all the positive changes beyond the month of January? Do we detect a trend here?

Not to worry - it's human and very common with most people.

If you want to make lasting changes in your life, take little steps. Set your end goals high, but make your immediate goals well within reach. The best mountain climbers didn't start climbing by tackling Mt. Everest, even though reaching that peak may be the ultimate desired accomplishment for many mountaineers.

Keep your destination within sight, but set small goals to be your check-in stations. Instead of saying: "I want to lose 40 pounds by year's end", divide your goals into small pieces. 40 pounds divided by 12 is 3.33 pounds, so it's better to say "I will lose 3.33 pounds by the end of January." Don't start dieting like mad, eliminate one bad eating habit at a time and you'll lose it automatically.

Now that's ONE example, but it works with everything else the same way. Break away from bad habits gradually and replace them with good ones, and the results will surely follow.

The same is true with leading your life peacefully and fulfilled. Make no mistake, it is hard work, but you can do it by slowly adapting your habits and without sacrificing your personality.

Try it out: randomly forgive one person today, regardless what that person's transgressions were. Just think of someone who you always held a grudge against and forgive him/her. Understand that this person is merely a human being with their own struggles, fears and stumbling blocks. Let go and forgive. You'll make a better start of the year for TWO people.

Love and peace to you in the coming decade and beyond!

Do you agree that we finally should become more mature as a global society? Wouldn't it be nice (and more productive) if we could learn to tolerate each other and abandon hate?

Do you believe in kindness? Then you should support the string that ties people from near or far together. Here's what to do:
